The single storey timber framed building has been tucked into the landscape, and is clad in a beautiful silvering larch which resonates with the tones of the surrounding area. The building is simple in form, in part to ensure ease of construction by the client as self-builders, and works to a very efficient plan with the area of build being to 162m2 on the croft.

The living room, kitchen and study are a single volume characterised by the exposed timber structure on the ceiling and separated by elegant 3/4 height oak ply joinery. All family spaces benefit from glazing in two directions, creating both connection to a south-facing courtyard, and most significantly to panoramic views up the Inner Sound to the north. As we arrived for our visit, the client remarked that the building allows them to experience the dramatic Skye weather without stepping outside – a wonderful thing indeed.
