A pair of Crittall French doors, two single opening doors and fixed lights make up the glazed screen that connects the indoor and outdoor areas at a new-build home in Prestwich, Greater Manchester.

This remarkable new-build has an open-plan multifunctional living space at the back of the house with a 13-metre steel glazed screen overlooking the garden.

The screen was manufactured by leading steel window and door manufacturer Crittall and installed by Wirral-based Crittall partner John Knight Glass.

Comprising two single opening doors either side of a central set of French steel doors, the design pushes the boundaries of what’s possible with modern steel and glass.

The screen is the largest the installer has ever fitted in a private home, fulfilling the clients’ aspirations for a visually stunning open-plan kitchen and living space with one wall completely opened up to overlook the garden.

In addition to the screen, a set of Crittall internal French doors with dual horizontal glazing bars was installed to provide a subtle separation between the main living space and entrance hall. This clever use of internal doors contributes to the open-plan feel and maximises the amount of natural light in the two spaces.

Crittall is the world's leading manufacturer of steel windows and doors. The durability of its steel products will ensure that this installation will stand the test of time and maintain its impressive appearance for many years to come.
